Ralph Breaks the Internet

Hello everybody! I hope you all had a splendid Thanksgiving! I sure did... I ate too much but what can you do? I also got to see a movie which you know I love. Today I will be reviewing the new Disney animated flick, Ralph Breaks the Internet. I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I love me some Disney... but then again who doesn't? If you know someone who doesn't like Disney I suggest running away from them because they clearly can't be trusted. Anyway enough of my rambling... LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!

PLOT:

Ralph Breaks the Internet is the sequel to the hit film Wreck-It Ralph. This story takes place six years after the events of that film. Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) are still best friends who do literally everything together. Vanellope is still the number one racer in her game and Ralph is still doing his thing but is much happier with his game. One day Vanellope tells Ralph that she wishes her game was less predictable, the tracks are all the same, it's the same routine day after day. She wants something new. Ralph takes this to heart and goes to her game to make her a new race track. While doing her usual race, Vanellope sees the new track and decides to take it, she's already so much further ahead of the other racers. The girl controlling her car in the arcade doesn't like the new track and tries to get Vanellope to go back to the original track to win the race. However, Vanellope is determined to finish this new track and her and the girl in the arcade fight over control. They pull so much that the girl in the arcade breaks the steering wheel and the game is out of commission. This is bad news because if a game is broken they will be unplugged forever and all the inhabitants of the game will be homeless.

Vanellope is distraught and doesn't know what to do, she doesn't want to be homeless and she thinks it's all her fault. Ralph comes up with an idea that could be dangerous but he's willing to do anything to make his friend happy. Earlier that day something new got plugged in, the Internet. They were warned off of going in there, stating that it was too dangerous. However, Ralph saw the arcade manager talk about ordering a new wheel from a website on the Internet called Ebay but it was too expensive so Vanellope's game would most likely be shut down for good.

Ralph tells Vanellope they should go into the Internet and go to Ebay and get that wheel for the game. Vanellope quickly agrees, always ready for a new adventure. They enter the Internet and as you can imagine chaos ensues. Will they get the wheel in time? Can they ever go back to their games in the arcade?

REVIEW:

So I was a little late to the Wreck-It Ralph party. I guess I just missed it when it came out and didn't see it until recently but when I saw it I loved it! This is no surprise though because it's Disney. When I saw that there was a sequel coming out I was pumped. From the first trailer it looked great and then I saw that the princesses were in it!

I really enjoyed this movie. In fact, I may have liked this movie more than the first one and I really liked that one. This movie just had so much and it all worked. The way they designed the Internet was fantastic. It was so creative how they created the whole world and the specific websites. I loved when they went into Instagram and it was just an art gallery with people's posts as the art work. I mean come on, that's genius. The whole set up was great and it really felt like a world within a world. You had shopping sites like Ebay, video sites like Youtube, Pinterest, Instagram, gaming sites. It was so fleshed out and immersive. They really did their homework on this one and it shows!

Alright so I think most of you know what I considered to be the best part of the film. If you guessed the princesses, you would be correct! This part was so fun and hilarious. It had every princess imaginable from Cinderella to Belle to Moana. One of my favorite parts was when Merida speaks but no one can understand her and Anna goes, "She's from the other studio." It was just so fun to see these classic characters out of their stories and combined into this one. The way they were animated was also really neat. Most of the princesses are from 2D animated films so to see them in 3D animation was really cool and they still captured the look of each of them. I wish this part was longer, honestly I could have spent the whole movie in this scene but they had a story to tell.

One thing that kind of bothered me in this film was how clingy Ralph was to Vanellope. It was part of the plot and it made sense for the story, I just personally thought he could have toned it down a bit. He was constantly wanting to be with her every second and never really let her do anything on her own. As an introvert and a bit of a loner this would have driven me nuts! I need my alone time and if I don't get it I can get grumpy so I don't know how I would have handled Ralph. Again, this is just a personal opinion, it doesn't take away from the story at all.

One new character that I thought was a fun addition was Shank played by Gal Gadot. Shank was from an online game called Slaughter Race. Ralph and Vanellope have to venture into this game to try and win some money to buy the wheel for her game in the arcade. Slaughter Race is a dangerous game with no rules. Ralph and Vanellope encounter Shank when they try to steal her car and they have a high speed race to see who gets to keep the car. Vanellope and Shank have a nice camaraderie and Shank can see Vanellope wants more out of her life and counsels her and encourages her to follow her dreams. It was a cool relationship to see on screen and it gave us a break from Ralph being clingy towards Vanellope.

PARENTS GUIDE: This is a great film for kids! It teaches important lessons about friendship, following one's dreams, etc. It's a Disney flick so of course I would recommend it for kiddos but it's up to you parentals. This film is rated PG. There could be some scenes that could be scary for little kids but nothing too bad.

OVERALL RATING:

For this film I will give it a...

Ralph Breaks the Internet: 8/10

I really enjoyed this film and I thought it was a fun addition to the Disney film collection. It was a solid sequel and in my opinion was one of those rare sequels that was better than the original. It had fun new characters while keeping the same ones we know and love. Overall it was a film I would highly recommend.

CONCLUSION:

Well as you can see I was a bit of a fan of this film. It was so fun and it was a great way to escape life for a couple of hours. And it's Disney so come on you know it's gotta be good. Well I think I've heard (or read I guess) of my voice. As always thanks so much for visiting this little blog of mine. I hope you enjoyed yourself! Please be sure to leave me a comment or suggestion and tell your friends! Until next time!
