Hello there friends, long time no blog! Whaaaaaat's uuuuup??? Today I will be reviewing the brand spankin' new Marvel movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Now I love me a good Marvel movie and let me tell ya folks, this one did not disappoint. Stay tuned and I'll give you my ranking of my top 5 Marvel movies (Spoiler... this one may just break it). Well enough about me, let's get to the movie, shall we?

PLOT:

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the second Ant-Man film. This one takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War and before the ever so depressing Infinity War. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is once again on house arrest due to his actions in Civil War and breaking the Sokovia Accords. If you don't know what this is I recommend watching Civil War. It kind of explains it but if I'm going to be honest it's still confusing. Anyway back to Scott... he's on house arrest so he hasn't be able to do too much in about 2 years. Sounds pretty boring, right? He would agree with you. While finding different ways to fight his boredom he takes a bath where he has a strange dream. In his dream he is back in the quantum realm which if you remember he traveled to in the first movie. In his dream he encounters Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), who is Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) lost wife.

I should tell you in all this time Scott hasn't been in contact with Hank or Hope (Evangeline Lilly) in all this time due to them being mad about his careless actions in Civil War. Scott calls them up and informs them of his dream. Next thing he knows he's with Hope again. She takes his dream as a message from her mother in the quantum realm and believes Janet has left her location, they just need to get it out of Scott's mind.

In these 2 years Hope and Hank have been working on a device that will take them to the quantum realm in order to save her mother. Oh and Hope has officially become one of the coolest superheroes ever.. the Wasp. Everything seems to be going according to plan until they encounter Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) who is determined to get their device for her own purposes.

Ant-Man and the Wasp must work together to stop Ghost and see if they can save her mother from the quantum realm. What follows is a hilarious, action-adventure that will keep you engaged and entertained the whole way through.

REVIEW:

To put it short... I LOVED this movie. Everything about this movie was fantastic. The comedy, the plot, the action, the cast... literally everything. I will even state that this film has broken my top 5 Marvel movies (more on that later). Now I loved the first Ant-Man but I have to say I liked this one more. It kept everything I loved from the first movie and built on it. What did I love about it? Where to even start?

I found myself laughing out loud for nearly 85% of the movie. It was hilarious which is to be expected with Paul Rudd. I know what you're wondering... does Luis do his long, hilarious monologue like he does in the first movie? The answer to that question is yes and it is probably one of the funniest things in this movie. Everyone in this movie gets their chance to shine in a comedic way, including Evangeline Lilly who gives it just as good as Paul Rudd. The banter and chemistry between the both of them is fantastic. They really do work well together and their pairing captures you. They could possibly be one of the best Marvel couplings. This was a refreshing movie after watching the depressing events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Not only is the comedy fantastic but the story as a whole is really great. It keeps the tone of the first film and really builds off of it. You really care about these characters and you have to know what happens to them. Like I said before, I liked this movie more than the first one and I loved the first one. I think I liked this one more because the characters were already established so I was already emotionally invested. This film was able to delve deeper into these characters and let us connect with them even more. I can't tell you too much about the plot because I don't want to give anything away.

Now let's talk about the ladies of the film. Now as you all know I love a great female character, especially one who can kick some booty. All the females in this movie from Hope to Ghost (AKA Ava) to Janet are these wonderfully developed characters who really have depth. We first met Hope in the first Ant-Man and although most of her scenes were her being the background helper, we really got to know who she was along with experiencing her grade A sass. She really did play a vital role in the first Ant-Man and got to show him who was boss along the way. In this movie she does even more and even gets to be a super hero! She has as much if not more action scenes than Ant-Man himself and really gets to shine in this film. Don't worry, she still keeps her sass and gives Scott a run for his money. She's just awesome in this movie and she really has become one of my favorite superheroes.

Ghost AKA Ava is a really interesting villain. In fact, I probably wouldn't even call her a villain (watch the movie and you'll find out why). She's this really complex character who's just fighting to survive. Not to mention her and Hope have some pretty great fight scenes. In the original comics, the character of Ghost was a male but the director decided to make Ghost a female which I thought was a really great choice. There aren't a whole lot of female villains in the Marvel universe. She really added layers to this character and even made us care about what happens to her character.

Although we didn't see Janet Van Dyne much in this movie, what we did see of her was fantastic. She's this amazing, strong woman who sacrificed herself in order to save the world. As a result she got lost in the quantum realm but found a way to tell Scott where she was. She's also played by Michelle Pfeiffer which is never a bad thing. I hope we get to see more of her character in later films because she's a really interesting character who has a lot of undiscovered layers.

So long story short, I really loved this movie. In fact it has become one of my favorite Marvel movies which is really hard to choose because they are all really good. Some are better than others (looking at you Iron Man 2... you could have been better pal) but this one definitely leans toward being one of the greater ones. If you love comedy, action, boss ladies, or just having a great time in general you will love this movie. SO GO SEE IT!

PARENTS GUIDE:

This film is rated PG-13 like pretty much every other Marvel movie. There is a little bit of cussing but not much at all. There is some action violence which is to be expected from a superhero movie. I mean they are trying to save the world... it's bound to happen. Other than that this movie is fantastic. It's a great one for the whole family. It's still up to you parents if you want your kiddos to see this film. However, when I went to see it there were quite a few kids there and they all seemed to love it.

CONCLUSION:

As promised I will give you my top 5 Marvel movies (I know you're really excited about this) so drumroll please!

5. Captain America: Civil War
