Oh hello! Today I will be reviewing the delightful new Disney movie, Christopher Robin. Don't worry all of our dear friends return including Winnie the Pooh himself, Eeyore, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, and Roo. I'm going to go ahead and spoil how I felt about this movie because I can't hold it in much longer... I absolutely loved this movie. That's all I'm going to give you though because I still want you to read the actual review because I mean that's why you came, right? Well enough of my rambling. LET'S GET STARTED!

PLOT:

This film tells the story of you guessed it, Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor). We start the film out with him as a child visiting the Hundred Acre Wood. There he plays with his dear old friends including his dearest friend, Winnie the Pooh. They are throwing him a going away party because his parents are sending him off to boarding school. Christopher Robin doesn't want to leave his friends but knows he has no choice in the matter. He promises Pooh and Pooh promises him that they will never forget each other and will forever be friends.

We then skip forward in Christopher's life and see what he has done since. He is now in one of the top positions in a luggage company. He is married to Evelyn (Hayley Atwell) and has a daughter (Bronte Carmichael). However, he seems to have lost his spark in life. He only ever thinks about work and never takes time off to spend with his family. He's a very serious man and can't seem to find the joy in life.

Back in the Hundred Acre Wood, Pooh on his never ending quest for honey can't seem to find his friends. He grows concerned and thinks of Christopher Robin. He thinks if there's one man for the job, it's Christopher. Pooh finds the door to Christopher's tree and walks through it and ends up in central London. Much to Christopher's surprise, there's Pooh waiting for him. Through a series of adventures, Pooh tries to help Christopher rediscover the joys of life all while trying to find their friends.

REVIEW:

So as I spoiled above, I absolutely loved this movie. It was so well done and told a simple yet really beautiful story. This is coming from a big Winnie the Pooh fan. This silly old bear played a big part in my childhood. We had all the stuffed animals and my dad would put on a show doing all the different voices and of course the signature Tigger laugh. My family loves Winnie the Pooh. In fact, we're all named after the different characters. My mom is Pooh, my Dad is Eeyore, Breanne is Rabbit, Amy is Piglet, and I'm Tigger. So as you can see we're all pretty big fans and we all absolutely loved this movie.

Make sure you bring your tissues to this one because if you're like me you'll be tearing up. In fact, I was tearing up within the first five minutes. So just know, it gets you from the start. Like I said it's a simple story but it really packs a punch. It shows how we as adults can get so bogged down with life that we can lose our sense of wonder. This movie shows us that no matter where we are in life or what we're going through we should never lose that wonder. It shows that those who truly know and love us will always be there and will always bring us back home. It shows us to not lose who we are and embrace ourselves. It shows that we're always welcomed back to the Hundred Acre Wood.

Not only is this movie sweet and sentimental, it's also hilarious. I laughed out loud more times than I can count. It was so funny. Eeyore had me cracking up the most with his dry, sarcastic one-liners. Pooh was also hilarious just blurting out whatever he was thinking which was almost always about him being hungry which honestly I can relate to on a deep level. This movie really reminded me how much I love these characters and their story. They're like a small family that you can visit whenever you want. It really felt like the classic story. As I said before all the characters we know and love are in this one. It even has some of the original songs including the Pooh stretching song and the Tigger song.

The voices of the characters were so good and really brought the characters to life. They really captured each character. I deeply connected with them even though they're not real (but let's be honest we all know they really do exist and there is such a place called the Hundred Acre Wood). Pooh had me so emotionally invested I felt what he felt. He made me tear up the most, that silly old bear! They did a really great job of bringing these characters to life. They looked and felt real. The CGI was amazing in this movie. I mean look at Eeyore in that gif above! He looks amazing, like you can reach out and touch him! They did a really great job with this movie and with these characters.

Let's talk about the performances from the humans, shall we? I'm mainly going to focus on Ewan McGregor as Christopher Robin because I mean the movie is titled after him. He did such a great job in this movie. I mean I'm biased because Ewan McGregor is in my top 5 actors but I mean seriously he did such a good job. He had such

emotional depth and he was so vulnerable that we are able to connect to him almost immediately. At first you don't really like him that much just because he's become this jaded, serious person who's seen some hard things in life. He's lost his sense of fun, of wonder. When he meets up again with Pooh, I can't even describe it. He just becomes this joyous, childlike person again. Ewan does such a great job of performing these two very different sides of his character. Him and Pooh have some really great emotional moments together and you can see the genuine love they have for each other.

Bronte Carmichael who played Christopher Robin's daughter, Madeline also did a fantastic job. She was really great at subtly showing her emotions because her character wasn't one to say how she felt out loud. Her and Ewan had some great scenes together where they are kind of awkward towards each other because they don't really know the best way to communicate with one another. You can see the genuine love they have for each other and all she wants to do is to make him happy and she really plays off that well. The whole cast was amazing and I could spend hours and hours gushing about them but you probably don't want to be here that long.

So I'm pretty sure you can see that I really, truly loved this movie. I recommend it for the whole family. I really think it was targeted more towards adults just based on its story but it really is a great movie for kids too. It has some great comedic moments along with great emotional moments. My family went opening day and there were quite a few kids there and they all seemed to love it. The parents also loved it, I would even say they probably liked it even more than the kids. I'm telling you this movie is just great. It's probably one of the best movies I've seen this year and that's saying something because I've seen some great ones.

PARENT'S GUIDE:

Like I said before I highly recommend this movie for both children and parents. It's rated PG so it's up to you parentals but I really think you should take your kiddos to see this one. Or make it a date night if you want or even see it on your own! I do it all the time. This movie is great for everyone.

CONCLUSION:

I hope you enjoyed my gushing over this movie and I really hope you check this one out. I don't think I need to gush any more. I think I got my point across. As always thank you so much for taking the time to read this blog of mine and make sure to leave me a comment or suggestion. Tell your friends! Until next time!
